Skin Patch Test
Before using oils in a baby massage, do a patch test to check for allergic reactions. Some babies may have an allergic reaction to almond or wheat-based oils. It is a good idea to suggest the parent (caregiver) try a skin patch test at the beginning of the class or lessons to give time to see any reaction.

① To perform a patch test, apply a small amount of oil to the infant’s skin at least thirty minutes prior to massage.
② Observe the skin and notice if any blotches or discolorations appear. Some reactions show up as quickly as 10 minutes after oil application.
③ If there is any sign of an allergic reaction,
do not use the oil.
